CHCC and RHNTC conduct training of reproductive health in NMI

(CHCC) — Medical providers, nurses, and clinic support staff on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota recently completed training on Family Planning and Reproductive Health provided through a partnership of the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation and the Reproductive Health National Training Center or RHNTC. The event is part of an ongoing focus of the CHCC for improving the quality of and expanding access to reproductive healthcare and family planning services in our communities. The training was held from Oct. 29 to Nov. 4, 2022 at the Commonwealth Health Center on Navy Hill, Saipan, at the Tinian Health Center, and at the Rota Health Center. A total of 42 healthcare professionals attended the training.

CHCC offers family planning services that assist in preventing or achieving pregnancy. These services are available for women, men, and adolescents, with priority given to persons from low-income families. The services are voluntary, confidential, and provided regardless of one’s ability to pay.

The CHCC Family Planning program provides a broad range of acceptable and effective family planning methods and services, including:

• contraceptive education, counseling, and methods (includes hormonal methods; fertility awareness based methods; barrier methods; abstinence);

• services centered around pre-conception health and achieving pregnancy (includes infertility services; STI prevention, education, screening, and treatment; HIV testing and referral; and screening for substance use disorders and referrals); and

• pregnancy diagnosis and counseling.

These services are available at CHCC Women’s Clinic, Tinian Health Center, Rota Health Center and through Mobile Clinic outreach.
