2022 Pacific Mini-Games champion Zhimin Jin topped the Ladies Flight of the McDonald’s 2nd Annual Golf Classic at LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort east course on Saturday.
The 16-year-old golfer who struggled on Hole No. 17 because of the “really strong wind,” made four bogeys but she birdied on Holes 3 and 4 to finish 2-over par 74 and win first place.
Despite the strong wind, it wasn’t that bad, she said, referring to her game. She had her first bogey on Hole No. 1, but things went pretty well for her on the front nine except for another bogey, this time on Hole No. 7. But it was on the par 4 Hole No. 17 where she had the hardest time.
Defending champion Yuko Togawa shot 79 on Saturday to take second place this year.
Jeon Me Ae settled for third place with a score of 82.
The other Ladies Flight golfers were Kim Sae-Hee who shot 83; Sherlyn Jones and Choi Young Min, 85; Niramai Koebel, Seo Yeon Jeon and Yoo Young Hee, 89; Lim Hyun Sook, 90; Gilah Yoon, 92; Chaome Thompson, 97; and Myung Soon Park, 99.
McDonald’s Restaurant Saipan owner/operator Marcia Ayuyu expressed appreciation to all who participated in the fundraising event. She also thanked the sponsors for ensuring the event’s “huge success.”
The tournament was organized by the Jose and Ruri Ayuyu Foundation Inc. which will donate the net proceeds to Make-A-Wish Foundation, Karidat, Salvation Army and the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
