This was according to two of the three drivers involved in the three-car collision.
Lucia Mendiola, 65, of As Lito, who was driving a Nissan sedan, said she was turning left at the intersection to go to Joeten when a speeding Toyota sedan coming in from the south and driven by Hui Yu Han hit her.
“She was driving so fast at the intersection and there were no traffic lights,” Mendiola said.
Hui Yu Han’s car also hit another Toyota driven by Xiong Yimin, a 34-year-old garment factory worker.
“I came from the direction of the library, heading in the direction toward Garapan but Han’s car hit my car at the intersection,” Xiong Yimin said.
He said he was in a hurry to buy food for his baby.
“I stopped at the intersection to wait for my turn but Han sped on, hitting my car after hitting Mendiola’s car,” Xiong Yimin said.
“Without traffic lights and with no policeman at the intersection, it’s hard for the drivers to guess each other’s minds,” he said.
The three cars were immediately removed from the intersection to prevent a traffic jam.
Mendiola has one passenger in her car while Xiong Yimin was alone. Hui Yu Han also had one passenger in her car.
No one was hurt in the accident but all three cars sustained minor damage.
