Senate told not to confirm Inos nomination

Cruz insists that Inos has conflict of interest involving his uncle, Finance Secretary Eloy Inos.

Gov. Benigno R. Fitial earlier withdrew the nomination but has again submitted it to the Senate.

“I am confident that Mr. [Perry] Inos is well qualified and will be a valued asset to the commonwealth judiciary,” the governor told Senate President Pete P. Reyes, R-Saipan.

But Cruz said the attorney Inos owns shares in a company that was awarded a federally funded contract under sole source procurement.

“We are urging all of you our senators not to approve Mr. Ino’s appointment for your judgment will come back haunting all of you should you act on the governor’s self-interest nomination,” Cruz said. “This is not in anyway personal but we are addressing true facts based on our investigative research and findings.”
