The Korean-owned Neo Gold Wings Paradise Saipan Corp. plans to construct a $200 million hotel-casino on Tinian.
Tinian Mayor Jose P. San Nicolas yesterday welcomed the “good news,” saying it is an important consideration in his decision to name two new members to the commission.
Since 1999, the Tinian Dynasty & Casino Hotel has been the only casino operator on the island.
But two other companies, Bridge Investment Group and Marianas Resort Development Corp., have said they will construct new casinos on Tinian.
MRDC’s facility will include an 18-hole golf course, a 405-room hotel and a two-floor casino.
BIG said it will build a casino, villas, 301-hotel rooms, a spa, a restaurant and a chapel.
A team of officials from TCGCC last month flew to Seoul, South Korea to look into Neo Gold’s financial capabilities.
Neo Gold has already submitted its license application and paid all the required fees early last month.
It wants to construct a 1,000-room hotel, a casino facility, a water park and a golf course.
Its principal shareholders include its chairman and president, Myung In Hyun, and Kwi Dong Woo, its Saipan chairman.
A conditional license identifies regulatory issues that must be complied with prior to the issuance of a plenary casino license.
