The U.S. Embassy in a statement said that the USNS Walter S. Diehl is scheduled to arrive in Palau for a few days of liberty call.
The USNS WALTER S. DIEHL is one of the Military Sealift Command’s fourteen Fleet replenishment oilers and is part of the 43 ships in the Naval Fleet Auxiliary Force. The vessel is 677 feet in length, 97 feet beam and has a draft of 35 feet.The vessel has a crew of 103.The USS CURTS meanwhile started its port call to Monday.The USS Curts will end its liberty call on Sept. 20.The crew of 115 is led by Commander Yvette Davids. The USS CURTS was the first Pacific Fleet unit with a complete anti-submarine warfare suite. The vessel has participated in a number of operations including Operation Desert Storm and has conducted joint training exercises with navies from Australia, Japan, and Korea. The CURTS is part of the 7th Fleet, the largest of the forward-deployed U.S. Fleets.
