Gary P. Camacho, CUC power division acting manager, said the previous load shedding was insufficient to meet the island power demand due to the emergency shutdown of Engine 3 at Power Plant 1.
“Engine 3 was required to be taken off-line as a result of mechanical problems,” he said
Variety learned that CUC is producing only 8.5 megawatts from Engines 6 and 8.
On Friday, Power Plant 4, which is managed by Pacific Marine and Industrial Co.-Rolls Royce, played a crucial role in restoring power to the island after the islandwide blackout.
All engines of Power Plant 1 were off-line and Power Plant 4 immediately isolated its connection from the system to safeguard its engines.
The revised load shedding schedule from Sept. 6 to 12 is as follows:
