Palau to have forensic specialist next year

Bureau of Public Safety Director Norvert H. Yano said Towai and three other personnel from the Criminal Investigation Division and the Drug Enforcement Division are undergoing forensic training under the Pacific Regional Policing Initiative program of Australia and New Zealand.

Yano said Towai will be the first to be certified in July next year and the certification of the three other officers will follow soon.Bryn Jones, a retired  Australian police officer, was one of the instructors.Matamu Tibasa from Samoa has replaced Jones and will be the instructor for the duration of the training.Yano said aside from the forensic training, a training on investigating interpersonal violence is also on going.The training is under the Pacific Regional Policing Initiative program.Yano said there are 13 participants from Palau and three instructors — one from Australia and one from Tuvalu.
