Rock Steady secures championship

Rock Steady picked up its pace in what was left of the remaining six and a half innings of Game 5, which was left hanging after a power outage hit the ballfield last time with Rangers leading, 2-1.

Rock Steady’s Dane Lizama and Toi Celis homered at the bottom of the third, courtesy of Jonathan Camacho and Roy Celis, who fashioned a sacrifice fly and a single, respectively.

Meanwhile, Ford Rangers remained scoreless in the third and fourth. The closest it got was second base by JJ Laniyo in the fourth.

Rangers homered in the fifth, but failed to follow through until the end due to errors.

During the bottom of the seventh inning, a power outage occurred, but game officials decided to continue the game. Rock Steady was already leading, 5-3.

According to Rock Steady coach Joey Dela Cruz, the team won because of the team’s determination.

“It’s the team that made us win,” Dela Cruz said. “The players who came out and played gave every effort.”

He added that Rock Steady’s defense was one factor that helped the team win.

He said the team had a difficult season but he was thankful they team came out champion.

After the game, coach Dela Cruz was awarded, Coach of the Year.

Manny Sablan of Rock Steady was honored with the title, Catcher of the Year and Doubles Champion; Mel Tenorio, Manager of the Year; Tyrone Omar, MVP (Regular Season) and Most Runs Champion; and Nick San Nicolas, ERA Champion.
