Ledgerwood gets two week suspension for DUI

Vice President Elias Camsek Chin said that Ledgerwood tendered his resignation on Sept. 11, 2008 but he refused to accept it.

Ledgerwood however may still face charges from the Special Prosecutor.“I believe in giving people a second chance. This individual has done a good job for the Republic and I want him to complete his contract.Still, I cannot condone behavior that violates professional responsibilities or codes of conduct,” Chin said.He said it is the responsibility of the Office of the Special Prosecutor to investigate and prosecute allegations against government employees working in the Ministry of Justice.Chin stated that “the incident involving an Assistant Attorney General is still under investigation. When it is completed, it will be sent directly to the Office of the Special Prosecutor who will determine if there was any wrongdoing.”Chin the Ministry of Justice will have no further involvement once this occurs.The Special Prosecutor, has jurisdiction over such matters to ensure that there is no special treatment given to any government employee working in the Ministry of Justice.  The SP position is still vacant as of the moment.“If there is any evidence that a law was broken, the Office of the Special Prosecutor, not the Office of the Attorney General, will prosecute it,” Chin said.Another Assistant Attorney General, who had been involved in a drinking and driving collision a few years prior to this current incident.However, Chin was unable to comment on that incident because the Attorney involved actually worked for the Ministry of Finance, even though he held the title of Assistant Attorney General.
