There used to be four divisions in the tournament – Boys’ 18-under, Girls’ 18-under, Boys’ 14-under and Girls’ 14-under.
Becky Covarrubias, sports coordinator, said, “I have only one interest in the 14-under division – to allow more kids… to join the tournament.”
She added that there are four teams that have expressed their interest to join the Girls’ 18-under division.
The sports coordinator also mentioned there are two teams that have signified their intention to play in the Boys’ 18-under division.
There is one team which joined the 14-under division but Covarrubias was not sure yet whether the team will play for the boys or the girls’ category, she said.
The figures, Covarrubias also noted, are still unofficial as CGC is still waiting for more teams to register.
Earlier, CGC announced that it has extended the deadline for team registration until today, September 17.
The original deadline set by CGC was Friday last week, September 12.
“I encourage the youth to participate in this tournament so they have something meaningful to do this season.” Covarrubias said, pointing out the registration for the tournament is free.
The youth volleyball will kick off on September 20 and will conclude on September 21 at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
The two-day games are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
