Filipino football coach, AFC instructor conducts assessment training of 8 Saipan coaches today

A football coach from the Philippines, Caslib observed that several football coaches on Saipan are volunteer coaches, saying “it’s a very good sign of a stable FA (football association).”

He also said that he has noticed great enthusiasm with the 20 football coaches that have signed up under his introductory training course.

He said that out of the 20 participants in the course, eight has been recommended to undergo the assessment exercises at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. today.

Nick Swaim, technical director of the Northern Mariana Islands Football Association, is one of the coaches who will help evaluate the eight individuals in the assessment.

“I’m looking forward to seeing very good players in the future out of this course,” Caslib said, pointing out that the local FA has a clear direction with its football program.

The training offers certificates to all participants who will be able to complete the course, he added, saying that those whom he sees potential coaches will be recommended for a higher studies in football coaching.

Accordingly, the next step after finishing the introductory coaching course is the 14-day training, called AFC – C License Program.

“Some of the participants right now have the potential to take that course,” he mentioned. “Hopefully, the local FA here will plan three to four more basic courses so they can host the first Asian C Level Program.”

Caslib has been conducting coaching course in Asia for several years now. He has brought his course and imparted his knowledge and skills to football coaches in countries like Vietnam, Mongolia, North Korea, and other places.

This is Caslib’s first time to conduct coaching course in football on Saipan.

The objective of his coaching course is to understand the role of coaches, to know the proper way of handling training sessions, and dealing with children who play football.

The introductory football coaching course by Caslib will culminate today after the assessment exercises in Ada Gym this afternoon.
