BPS Director Norvert H. Yano advised the public yesterday to celebrate the Independence Day happily and safely.
Yano said some 20-law enforcement officers would be deployed on Wednesday to monitor the Japan-Palau Friendship Bridge where the Independence Day ceremony will be held.Yano said police officers would also monitor the traffic flow on the bridge.Yano reminded the public not to sit on the rails of the bridge and not to leave any trash on the bridge.The Director also advised the public to park their vehicle outside the bridge.The officers will start the traffic control at 7:30 a.m. and swimming activity will start at 8 a.m. followed by the canoe race at 8:30 a.m.A Bikathon will also be held from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.Route of the Bikathon will be from Belau National Hospital to Koror side of Japan-Palau Friendship Bridge.Bikers will meet at the hospital parking lot by 7:30 a.m. for short ceremony and biking preparations.This year’s theme is “Palau in Motion for a Healthy Nation.”There will be live band entertainment in the evening.
