According to information from the state’s office, Surangel and Sons has begun doing initial work on Oketol Dock. The work to be done involves usage of large machinery, dredging, and construction; and that any boats moored at the dock is liable to be damaged. The government is asking all residents to remove all personal ocean crafts from the dock in order for the work to proceed without unnecessary delays.
Oketol Dock, according to state officials, has been completely redesigned. Once completed, it will feature more mooring space, a bigger boat ramp, a fenced basketball court, a more spacious waiting house, and even a swimming pool.The dock has been, through out the years, deteriorating as direct results of typhoons and constant barrage of waves. Further, according to the officials, the original design and construction of the dock is no longer suited to meet our needs.Oketol Dock is estimated, according to the officials, to be fully completed within a year – barring major delays. In the meantime, the state officials continue to ask the citizens to support the progress of the project by complying with the state’s notices.
