Perry Oiterong, Jubilee Kuartei are Oceania Allstar

Oiterong will participate as an Oceania all-star player.  He was a member of the PAlau team to  2008 Oceania 19 and under youth basketball tournament in Guam.  His performance in the tournament was noticed by officials of the tournament.  He was selected amongst many other players to the Oceania all-star team.

Kuartei’s perfomace as a referee was also noticed and she too was selcted amongst many of the referees of the tournment to represent Oceania in the 2009 tournament in Australia.Both Oiterong and Kuartei’s perfomances, though differing in nature, have served to establsh notches in Palau sports history.Oiterong and Kuartei will be joining other all-star athletes and referees from Tahiti, Fiji, New Caledonia, Papaua New Guinea, and Guam as representatives of the Oceania region.Both are excited about the once-in-a lifetime opportunities and look forward to the preparation and training requirements of the event.Oiterong and Kuartei are currently working on plans to raise funds for their trip – $600 Australian dollars fee per participant.They said they said they will be working with Kazuki Topps Sungino, Palau’s National Baskeball Development Officer, and the Palau National Olympic Committe (PNOC) during their training and preparation for the 2009 tournament in Australia.Sungino and PNOC have, for the ast years, worked diligently to provide opportunities for Palauan althletes to participate in sports in the international arena.
