Sixers tally 5th win after beating Sonics

Sixers are now tied with Junior Nationals on the team standings with 5-0 win-lose card.

Sixers’ came in prepared for their match with Sonics, raining the latter with hard offense, and posting solid defense in the entire duration of play.

Ernest Duenas of Sixers fired the opening salvo for his team with a quick two-pointer in the beginning of the first quarter, and followed through with a single free throw shot.

The power forward, made a three-point shot in the succeeding minutes to tie the game at 12 points with Sonics.

Later, Sonics’ Leo Galarse fashioned a three-pointer to bring his team to a three-point lead.

Sixers responded with a quick two points to go neck and neck with their opponent.

The first period saw basically a seesaw of scores between the two teams, ending the quarter with Sixers leading by one point, 26-25.

By the second quarter, the other Duenas of Sixers, Matt Duenas, made a barrage of shots in the Sonics zone making three consecutive two-pointers in the early part.

But Sonics were able to maintain a close watch of their score, putting in the needed points by penetrating the Sixers defensive line with heavy opposition.

Several times, Sonics were able to tie the score with Sixers, but seemed to have lost fuel and momentum in the final minutes of the quarter as they fired miscalculated shots and committed fatal turnovers, which paved the way for Sixers to charge on with their sustained firepower.

Joe Ada and Nino Pepito of Sixers helped steered their team to advance in the game with the needed fastbreaks and strong drive to go near the basket.

Sonics got nailed with Galarse’s score, bringing the team to a score of 55 points.

The two Duenas, Ada, and Pepito joined forces to seal the match in favor of Sixers.
