Melisha Lizama and Louvicki Camacho are the two lucky winners of the Best of the Marianas grand raffle prize of a staycation package in a live raffle draw held at the Marianas Variety office on Feb. 21, 2023. They each are eligible to receive a two-day one-night hotel accommodation, including roundtrip flights and car rental to the island of their choosing.
Present during the live raffle draw were MV President Amier Younis and Sales & Marketing Supervisor Hazel Sadian, along with MVA Community Projects Head Martin Duenas and Edward Diaz who were there as witnesses. The raffle draw was streamed live on Facebook on Marianas Variety’s account.
Lizama and Camacho expressed their excitement in an interview.
“I’ve never won anything like this before, so it feels really good,” Camacho said.
Lizama, for her part, mentioned how she didn’t realize there would be a grand prize this big. “I am very excited, of course. It’s free vacation. And I just really wanted to vote without any expectation. Just to show my support for small businesses and the businesses who deserve it,” she added.
When asked about where they want to go, both answered they want to visit the beautiful island of Rota.
Camacho said she doesn’t know yet where to go. “Having been born and raised in Saipan, this is a really great opportunity for me to visit Rota. I think I’ll just go and explore.”
Lizama, likewise, hasn’t given it much thought yet, but heard of the popular Rota Swimming Hole and the Latte Stone Quarry.
Camacho and Lizama each won a staycation package for two, inclusive of paid roundtrip flights to the island of their choosing, transportation, as well as a two-day one-night hotel accommodation, with another person of their choosing.
Thank You MVA
The partnership with the MVA made this incentives program for voters possible.
Since the second week of voting, five winners were randomly selected to win $100 every week. Toward the last two weeks of the voting period, MV hosted a Facebook contest to giveaway more prizes of $100 cash. The winners of the grand raffle prize of a staycation package for two were determined at the end of the voting period.
MVA’s Martin Duenas is thankful for the local community and to everyone who participated.
“We also congratulate the grand raffle winners of the BOM. We hope that you will enjoy your staycation package to whichever island you choose to visit,” he added.
Congratulations to the Winners
Camacho and Lizama extend their congratulations to the winners of the first annual Best of the Marianas.
“Continue to serve the Marianas proudly,” Lizama said. “Thank you for providing these services to the CNMI,” she added.
As for MVA, Duenas shares how pleased they are to wrap up this annual program. “While it was certainly quite a long journey, we believe that all the hard work put into it was worth it,” he said.
He adds, “We would like to congratulate all the winners of this first-ever contest. We are certain that your title as the Best of the Marianas on your respective categories will bring much pride in what you offer as well as bring you additional business that will benefit your establishment.”
