MHS and ACS secure semifinal spots in high school badminton

MARIANAS High School 1 and 2 and Agape Christian School 1 and 2 have reached the semifinal round in the high school division of the TakeCare-PSS Interscholastic Badminton League after besting their opponents Saturday at the Ada gym.

In bracket 1, MHS 2, which collected a total of 70 points, dominated every team they faced.

 Against Grace Christian Academy 2 and Tinian Jr/Sr High School, MHS 2 displayed perfection by winning all five events — boys and girls singles and doubles and mixed doubles.

MHS 2 nearly had another perfect run in their game against Saipan Southern High School, but lost a set in the boys doubles.

MHS 2 also defeated Saipan International School 1 and ACS 1.

ACS 1, for their part, claimed a semifinal seat by garnering a total of 58 points.

ACS 1, which lost against MHS 2, dominated SSHS 2 and Tinian.

SIS 1 finished third with 36 points followed by GCA 2 with 33 points, SSHS 2 with 16 points and Tinian with 12 points.

Bracket 2

In bracket 2, MHS 1 lost the mixed doubles event against SSHS 1 and the girls singles event against GCA 1, but their wins against the rest of the competition propelled them to first place with a total of 67 points.

ACS 2 lost against MHS 1 and Kagman High School, but did enough damage against the remaining schools to clinch  second place and a semifinal spot with 43 points.

In third place was SSHS 1 with 42 points followed by KHS with 41 points, GCA 1 with 23 points, and SIS 2 with 8 points.
