WILLIAM S. Reyes Elementary School received $5,000 for winning McDonald’s “Race to Raise” promotion.
WSR Vice Principal Jocelyn Manibusan received the check from the management of McDonald’s on Wednesday.
“The whole WSR community is very excited to have won the grand prize,” she said. “This will go to our incentives and other programs for our students.”
Manibusan expressed her gratitude to the parents, students and other community members who supported WSR.
“We used the social media to promote this event. We spoke to the parents during meetings. We are just grateful to the support that everyone gave to make WSR win this prize,” she added.
She also expressed her gratitude to McDonald’s Saipan for the continuous support that it provides to the community.
In celebration of its 30th year, McDonald’s Saipan launched “Race to Raise” for public elementary schools.
McDonald’s Saipan and Guam owner and operator Joe Ayuyu Sr. said McDonald’s will continue to support education in the CNMI.
“McDonald’s of Saipan values integrity, community and family, and we want the young generation to learn and develop important skills so they can have a bright future,” he said.
Through “Race to Raise,” community members were encouraged to purchase at least $15 worth of McDonald’s products and drop the receipts into the drop boxes of participating elementary schools at McDonald’s Chalan Laulau and Garapan branches.
“We tried hard to raise funds for our school,” said Marlon Cabrera, president of WSR’s PTSA. “I personally went to collect receipts from customers whenever I visited McDonald’s.”
Cabrera said he also encouraged parents to support WSR in the “Race to Raise” promotion. “We did our best. All this goes back to our kids and the programs of WSR,” he added.
