THE Saipan Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the successful completion of its recent professional development webinar on “How Company Leaders can Support Women in the Workplace.”
The webinar, which took place on March 29, 2023, was attended by a variety of chamber members and future-chamber members and was hailed as a resounding success by both attendees and organizers.
The webinar was designed to provide company leaders with practical strategies and tools for supporting women in the workplace.
The webinar was led and facilitated by MPower Solutions co-founders, Demi Rasmussen, MNM, CNP, and Mona Manglona, MSW, NCRI.
“A new member to the chamber, MPower Solutions is represented by two island women who reside in the states but are still finding ways to give back to their region — we commend and celebrate that,” said SCC Executive Director Kim Camacho.
The webinar covered a wide range of topics, including the challenges faced by women in the workplace, strategies for creating a more inclusive and supportive work environment, and best practices for developing and promoting women leaders.
Webinar attendee John Jay Santos, general manager of Triple J Five Star Wholesale and the 2022 SCC Business Person of the Year, thanked the chamber and MPower Solutions for conducting the presentation. He stated that “it’s about time that attention be brought to the professional development for women in our business community, whether it be for local businesses or women entrepreneurs. I was very happy to see this brought forward and hope that it works out in a very positive way for the women in our community.”
Santos said Triple J Saipan has been supporting women in the workplace for quite some time, adding that the sales manager for Triple J Truckload is a woman. There are also multiple women leaders within the corporate office of other Triple J establishments which will continue to support women empowerment and growth, he added.
Webinar attendee Sean Ficke, general manager of Triple J Motors, shared during the webinar that three of six sales leaders at Triple J Motors are women.
Another webinar attendee, Julie Duenas, office manager at Bridge Capital LLC, said it was a great presentation and was informative. “My key takeaway from the webinar was the tools and resources that the presenters shared on empowering women in the workplace. I will share these information and tools with the management team and look into current PD’s for women specifically,” she said.
Camacho said this is the first of four professional development trainings under the Saipan Chamber of Commerce this year and she looks forward to growing the participation rate with each PD.
