ALI’I Blue Haus defeated Bridge Capital, 84-73, in a Michelob Ultra Cup 2023 game Saturday at the Ada gym.
Blue Haus found their groove right from the start with Elmer Esdrelon orchestrating the run by delivering two buckets while feeding Jonel Broncano inside with five points.
Team mate Jay-R Barrios came off the bench with four points while other Blue Haus players also scored to seize a comfortable lead, 22-7.
Bridge Capital struggled to find their rhythm in the first quarter, but managed to get out of the gutter in the second canto thanks to the aggressive approach of Matt Duenas who drew a handful of fouls to chip in seven points from the charity line.
Bridge Capital’s rally continued in the third period as Manny Duenas stepped up, sinking nine straight points while Matt Duenas and Are Doca converted 10 points to reduce the lead, 50-56.
But Blue Haus stuck to what works with Broncano and Esdrelon delivering alongside Jaymark De Guzman to regain a comfortable distance.
In the last few minutes of the game, Blue Haus’ Reymark Castroscored seven points to secure the win, 84-73.
Other games
Joining the winner’s circle was Unity Trade which slipped past Socho, 71-63.
Socho controlled the first half and was led by Mariano Aguon Jr., Jonathan Limes and Henry Aguon to hold a 32-23 advantage.
In the final quarter, however, Unity Trade turned the table, thanks to Socho’s excessive fouls that allowed Frank Ferrer to score nine points from the free throw line and seal the deal 71-63.
Also victorious was Save More which outlasted the OG Rollers, 74-66.
