MARIANAS High School 1 and Saipan International School 1 continued their win streak in the boys high school division of the PSS-NMIVA Interscholastic Volleyball League by beating their respective opponents Friday at the MHS gym.
MHS 1 convincingly defeated Mount Carmel School 1, 21-15, 21-11.
MHS 1’s players were well-equipped as each of them on the court played their roles well. From timely blocks to devastating spike finishes, the team established early control. MCS, for their part, focused on setting up Minsoo Kwon and Derek Sasamoto, but still trailed due to their inability to withstand attacks, which allowed MHS 1 to notch the first set, 21-15.
MHS 1 continued to ride the momentum in the second set as they kept the constant pressure going, eventually overwhelming MCS 1, 21-11.
SIS 1 also came out victorious in a three-set battle against Saipan Southern High School 1.
SIS 1 had a very strong start as their teamwork proved superior, claiming the first set, 21-12.
But SSHS 1 turned the tables in the second set by playing more aggressively and with spike finishes to force a third set, 21-12.
In the final set, both teams played equally well but when the dust settled, it was SIS 1 that stood tall and victorious, 15-8.
