Gov. Arnold I. Palacios on Wednesday presented the CNMI’s challenges and requests for federal assistance at the senior plenary session of the Interagency Group on Insular Areas organized by the U.S. Department of the Interior. Interior Secretary Deb Haaland, Interior Assistant Secretary for Insular and International Affairs Carmen G. Cantor, Director of the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs Julie Chavez Rodriguez, and White House Senior Advisor and Infrastructure Coordinator Mitch Landrieu were also present at the session. Governor Palacios will likewise testify before the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources to present on the state of the CNMI to Committee Chairman Joe Manchin and other U.S. senators.
