JP Sablan to use ‘institutional knowledge’ in leading Saipan delegation

REPRESENTATIVE John Paul P. Sablan, the chair of the 23rd Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation, vowed to use his “institutional knowledge” as its presiding officer.

Sablan, who is serving his sixth term as Precinct 2 House member, chaired the 21st delegation.

Elected vice chair during the 23rd delegation’s inaugural session on Jan. 20, 2023, was Rep. Roman C. Benavente while Sen. Celina R. Babauta was named floor leader.

In an interview, Sablan said he was honored and humbled that his colleagues chose him to lead the 23rd Saipan delegation.

“As chair of delegation again, I pledge to use all my institutional knowledge to lead this delegation moving forward in this 23rd Legislature,” said Sablan.

Benavente, who was the Saipan delegation’s vice chair in the 21st Legislature, expressed his appreciation to each and every one of his colleagues.

He said is he honored to be elected as the delegation’s vice chair. “I will not let them down,” he added.

After the election of delegation officers, Sablan notified Gov. Arnold I. Palacios that the Saipan delegation “is ready to transact business and looks forward to working closely with your administration in the best interest of our people, our islands, and our Commonwealth.”
