KANOA, Shirley’s and Southern United football clubs emerged victorious against their respective opponents in the Flores-Péé Luwal Division of the Dove Women’s League on Sunday at the new pitch of the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.
Kanoa had a tough match as they went head-to-head against MP United Football Club.
Both teams seemed equally matched as they filled the first half with nonstop back-and-forth action, but neither was able to break the silence and both remained scoreless.
In the second half, it looked as if the match was going to end in a draw, but at the 55th minute mark, Kanoa finally caught a break as they transformed their successful defensive stop into an offensive pressure, setting up Amy Quintos to slice a shot and seize the lead 1-0.
MP United failed to retaliate within the limited time left and had to settle for defeat.
Shirley’s vs Matansa
Shirley’s joined the winner’s circle by outplaying the Matansa Football Club, 3-0.
Momentum was the biggest factor in Shirley’s victory. Their first goal was made thanks to Jeraldine Castillo’s precision shot at the 29th minute of the first half.
Matansa, for their part, had to focus on defense even as Shirley’s added two more goals in the second half courtesy of Mikayla Lopez and Castillo to secure the win, 3-0.
Southern United Football Club also clinched victory by defeating Paire Football Club, 5-1.
Kanoa’s Jane Malabanan rushes to control the possession during a game in the Flores-Péé Luwal Division of the Dove Women’s League on Sunday at the NMI Soccer Training Center.
