MHS, SSHS still lead PSS Outrigger race series

THE Marianas High School girls and the Saipan Southern High School boys continue to rule the high school division of the PSS Interscholastic Outrigger Race Series after completing the third race week at Kilili Beach.

In the women’s category, MHS powered through the preliminary round of the  1000m event,  clocking 06:27.540 to garner 5 points and beat SSHS which claimed second place with a time of 06:38.720 for 3 points, and Kagman High School which finished third at 07:22.680 for 1 point.

The final round was no different as the MHS girls early mirrored their performance with a finish time of 06:41.140. SSHS was second place again with a time of 06:53.110 while KHS was third at 07:43.050.

In the 500m event, SSHS gave a good fight to claim first place in the preliminary race with a time of 03:06.160.  MHS was second at 03:14.350 while KHS was third at 03:15.220.

In the finals, MHS recovered and clinched first place with a time of 03:06.400, upsetting SSHS which settled for second place with a time of 03:09.460. KHS came in third with a time of 03:31.590.

MHS is still first place overall in the women’s category with a total of 39 points followed by SSHS with 33 points and KHS with 9 points.

Men’s category

In the men’s category, SSHS topped the  1000m in both rounds. They led the preliminary race with a time of 06:07.230 followed by MHS at 06:15.230 and KHS  at 07:09.700.

In the finals, SSHS was once again dominant with a finish time of 06:15.540 while MHS trailed behind at 06:33.210 with KHS coming in third at 07:09.400.

SSHS was likewise triumphant In the 500m event, clocking 02:44.940 in the preliminary race to beat MHS whose finish time was 02:57.790 and KHS who came in third at 02:53.390.

The finals were a bit tougher for SSHS, but it still pulled through to finish first with a a time of 02:45.790, once again defeating MHS which clocked 02:48.390 and KHS whose finish time was 02:58.740.

SSHS still has a strong overall lead in the men’s category with a total score of 45 points followed by MHS with 25 and KHS with 11.
