IN Jan. 2010, then-Saipan Mayor Juan B. Tudela approved the 10th Saipan Municipal Council’s proposed municipal ordinance, 10SMC Bill No. 10SMC-2RS-01, Substitute 1, proposed by then-Council Chairman RB Camacho, who is now the current Saipan mayor.
It was one of two ordinances the three-member, all-women council presented to Mayor RB Camacho during the 17th council’s first regular session at the Saipan Leadership Kiosku in Chalan Kanoa, Saipan on Feb. 10, 2023.
Saipan Municipal Ordinance 10-01-2010 authorizes the mayor to appoint a staff for the Saipan Municipal Treasury within the mayor’s office.
Council Chairwoman Marian DLG Tudela said they are hoping that the mayor will implement the ordinance “as part of this new municipal government leadership’s commitment in building its capacity by taking certain foundational post-Covid and post-ARPA steps in moving forward and building a solid self-sustaining municipal governance regime sustained by creative municipal revenue production strategies and innovative revenue generating capacity and financing.”
