THE members of the 23rd Legislature and municipal government officials will take their oaths of office in separate inauguration ceremonies today, Monday, Jan. 9, 2023.
At 10 a.m., the 23rd House of Representatives will hold its organizational session in the House chamber on Capital Hill while Gov. Arnold I. Palacios and Lt. Gov. David M. Apatang are being sworn in at the Governor Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe.
At 11 a.m., the 23rd Senate will hold its organizational session in the Senate chamber.
Municipal officials
Three mayors will be sworn in today, Monday, at the CNMI Supreme Court in Susupe.
Tinian and Aguiguan Republican Mayor Edwin Palacios Aldan will take his oath of office at 7:30 a.m., along with the 19th Tinian and Aguiguan Municipal Council members Estevan Pangelinan Cabrera, Ana Marie Cruz San Nicolas, and Joseph Romaldo Evangelista Santos.
The first female elected mayor in Commonwealth history, Rota Republican Mayor Aubry Manglona Hocog, and Republican Northern Islands Mayor Valentino Nicky Taisacan will be sworn in at 8 a.m. in separate courtrooms.
Taisacan will also hold a municipal inaugural ceremony at 6 p.m. at the Mariana Lighthouse on Navy Hill.
Independent Saipan Mayor Ramon Jose Blas Camacho will hold his inaugural ceremony at the Office of the Mayor of Saipan at 8:30 a.m.
For its part, the CNMI Board of Education will hold its inauguration ceremony at its office on Capital Hill.
Variety learned that separate inaugural ceremonies will be held on Rota and Tinian later this month for the new municipal leaderships.
On Saturday, Jan. 7, U.S. Congressman Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan, a Democrat, was sworn in on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., after the U.S. House of Representatives finally elected a new House speaker.
Incumbent CNMI Attorney General Edward Eladio Manibusan was also sworn in on Saturday in a private ceremony.
