KAGMAN claimed the U13 boys division title of the 2022 Marianas Village Pride Basketball League by beating Tanapag, 41-32, in the championship game Sunday at the TSL Sports Complex.

Kagman controlled the entire game thanks to their teamwork.

In the first half, the team’s ball movement and their players’ ability to score quickly overwhelmed Tanapag.

Kagman’s Liam Wilson was in the frontline with six points while team mates James Matsumoto, David Apatang, Ioane Camacho and James Enriquez contributed a bucket each.

Although Tanapag struggled at first with most of their points coming from the charity line to trail 12-18, they managed to get out of the gutter and put up a fight in the second half of the game.

Their teamwork improved as each player on the court found the back of the net. However, Tanapag failed to deliver defensively during crunch time allowing Kagman to score at will with Kobe Viola, Matsumoto and Jeff Pineda connecting the final few buckets to secure victory, 41-32, and the championship.

In the battle for third place,  Oleai slipped past Finasisu, 49-47.

Theo Joab carried Oleai to victory with 15 points alone as well as sinking the game-winning shot.
