Saipan mayor’s office to evaluate employees’ performance

SAIPAN’S new mayor, Ramon “RB” Camacho, will evaluate the performances of employees working for his office.

“We need to find out who are the ones working hard and who are those that don’t perform well,” he said in an interview.

The performance evaluation will be conducted amid the CNMI government’s efforts to reduce “unnecessary expenditures.”

The Saipan mayor’s office has 82 employees, and these include office staff and field workers.

Camacho said attendance record is a crucial part of the evaluation process.

“We need to know who the diligent workers are and who are the ones always out, always late or those just relaxing and wasting taxpayers’ money,” he added.

He said government positions are meant for those who are serious in serving the community and not for those who “cheat on their timesheet.”

“We take attendance seriously and I want my team to understand that we are serious in serving the community,” the mayor said.

He added that he has also started meeting with business owners to push for the Adopt-a-Place project.

He is likewise working on reviving the Neighborhood Watch Task Force in the villages.

“We are getting ready for the arrival of tourists and our priority is to ensure that we have a clean and safe environment for both locals and tourists,” he said.

Camacho spearheaded the implementation of the Neighborhood Watch Task Force when he was a member of the Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council.
