ONE of the 38 recently sworn-in Corrections officers was caught bringing contraband — marijuana — into jail.
This was confirmed by Department of Corrections Commissioner Wally Villagomez, but he did not provide additional details about the incident.
The Corrections officer, who graduated from the 9th Cycle Corrections Academy over a month ago, was terminated Tuesday, Variety learned.
He was already under surveillance when he was caught by a veteran Corrections officer bringing marijuana to an inmate on Nov. 16, 2022.
No court information was available as of press time Wednesday.
