BOARD of Education member Andrew L. Orsini of Saipan was reelected with 66.74% of the votes cast or 7,310.
His opponent, Robert Harrel, garnered 33.26% of the votes cast or 3,643.
On Tinian, its BOE member Antonio Borja ran unopposed and received 928 votes. Borja was appointed by Gov. Ralph DLG Torres after former BOE member Philip Mendiola-Long of Tinian resigned on Oct. 20, 2020.
Both Orsini and Borja will serve a term of four years.
In an interview, Orsini expressed his gratitude to the community for trusting him once again. He said he will continuously give his full dedication to serving the Commonwealth as part of the BOE which formulates policy and exercises control over the Public School System.
Orsini is a former BOE chairman who also served as a regent of the University of Guam and Northern Marianas College.
Harrel, for his part, congratulated Orsini, saying: “I know him personally, and he is a great person.”
Harrel also thanked the members of the community who voted for him. He said he will continue to serve the Commonwealth in his own way as a member of different community organizations on Saipan.
“I will continuously do my best to give back to the community in my own way,” he added.
