Rustlers solidify 2nd place with win over Kabalen in SBA Tuesday Division

THE Ideal Signs JC Rustlers remain number two in the Tuesday Division team standings of the SBA Budweiser Open 8-Ball League after beating Bamboo NSA Kabalen, 8-5, Tuesday at the New Bamboo Bar of Saipan Vegas.

The Rustlers notched a 2-1 run in the opening Singles 8-Ball game thanks to Albert Pangilinan and Mei Rengiil. In team play, they reigned supreme with Chester Hamoy and Rowel “Cobra” Marian on the frontline to extend their lead, 3-1.

Rustlers then notched another 3-1 run in the second singles and partners games to widen their lead.

Kabalen’s best run came late in the game when Cesar Sangalang and Jess Guerra stepped up to give their team a 2-1 run in the final Singles 8-Ball game while Jerry Soriano bagged a win in the partners scene before his team settled for defeat, 5-8.

In other matches

The VFW Crazy Shooters outdueled the Last Shot Cholos, 8-5.

The Shooters started strong with a 3-1 lead after the first two games. The Cholos fought back in the next singles and partners games with three consecutive wins to even the score.

The Shooters’ EJ Mansilungan and Joel Bunag  then retaliated with a 2-1 run in the final Singles 8-Ball game and followed up with two more wins in the remaining Partners 8-Ball games to secure  victory, 8-5.

The top team in the standings, the VFW IT&E Destroyers, joined the celebration with an easy win against the Last Shot Dead Eye’s, 11-2, while the 9 Eleven B.E. Skeptron defeated the 9 Eleven Rebels, 9-4.
