THE Commonwealth Ports Authority Board of Directors unanimously approved on Friday the temporary concession bid of Micronesia Resort Inc., the subsidiary of E-Land Corp. that operates Kensington Hotel in San Roque, Coral Ocean Point Golf Resort in Koblerville, and Pacific Islands Club in San Antonio.
All six board members present voted to approve the recommendation of CPA Executive Director Esther Ada to award the concession to MRI. In her recommendation, Ada stated that CPA management determined the bidder meets the requirements of the invitation for bid, is financially responsible, and has reputable experience.
MRI will occupy the retail space that was previously operated by Duty Free Shoppers T Galleria, which closed on April 30, 2025, at the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport terminal.
CPA board member Bart Jackson made the motion to approve the recommendation. He said CPA continues to seek businesses interested in occupying the space vacated by DFS and noted that MRI would be the third concessionaire selling consumables at the airport terminal. However, he added, CPA is still looking for a major concessionaire to occupy the largest space, which he recognized may take some time.
Also present at the board meeting were Chairman Ramon A. Tebuteb and board members Joe Diaz, Thomas Villagomez, Antonio Cabrera, and Dolores Kiyoshi, who attended via videoconference.
