HEATHER Brook and Nap Dizon clinched first-place finishes in their respective divisions of the 50th Tan Holdings Anniversary Triathlon at Paupau Beach, San Roque on Saturday.
The course started with a 750m swimming portion, followed by a 20km bike race from Paupau to Seafix, then to Banzai Cliff, and back to Paupau where they closed the event with a 5km run to Ayuyu Drive and back.
In the Female Division, Pacific Mini Games triathlete Heather Brook snagged the gold medal by excelling in all portions of the race with a finish time of 01:21:52.
Robyn Spaeth, a teammate of Brook in the Min Games, finished second at 01:25:11. In third place was Mini Games athletics silver medalist Denis Myers with a time of 01:25:54 while Kathy Ruszala came in fourth with a time of 01:34:02.
Shiela Isla-Mabutas was fifth, 01:51:24, while Kris Romero was sixth, 51:34.
More winners
In the Male Division, Nap Dizon, who is well-known for cycling, took on the challenge and delivered in each portion of the race, especially at biking, to clinch first place with a time of 01:29:42.
In second place was Mini Games triathlete Leo Wania with a time of 01:31:18 followed by Chong Lee, 01:45:51; Manny Sitchon, 01:46:45; and Paul Plunkett, 01:48:04.
In the Mixed Relay category, Team JFK’s Kaithlyn Chavez (swimming), Fred Remillosa (cycling) and Cody Shimizu (running) came in first with a time of 01:12:25 followed by 99 Problems But Winning Ain’t One’s Natalia Gvan (swimming), Renren Gaviola (cycling), and Sildrey Veloria (running) who clocked 01:20:37, and the Lions & Hot Chick’s Julia Aleksenko (swimming), Willy Barbo (cycling) and JR Barrios (running) who finished third at 01:20:57.
