EVERY situation in our lives teaches us precisely what we need to learn. As we age gracefully, the more we see problems, events, and things from a different perspective with deep knowledge and wisdom.
Many folks long to discover a religious trainer or guru who can offer great advice. We may long for someone who has a higher level of insight to guide us. Mentors can be of great help, for they can share their life experiences and we can learn the best of what they have. But it is also good to know that you can also be your best teacher.
The people and conditions we encounter in our lives have countless messages only if we open our hearts and minds to them. Often we don’t understand the lessons that life is showing us because they may disguise great wisdom that can guide us through. All the situations in our lives conspire and educate us on exactly what we need to gain knowledge of at any given time. Patience, compassion, persistence, genuineness — there are a lot of these in the lecture room of the teacher that is your existence.
Each morning we should find time to say to ourselves, “I receive and honor the trainer that is my existence. May I be sensible enough to apprehend the wisdom and lessons I encounter each moment, and may I be open to receiving their information.” We may also try to find out what our lives are trying to train us right now. Talking to children may teach you about their innocence. The difficult people in your life may show you the boundaries of your compassion and patience. Litter makes you more aware that we need to take care of our surroundings. Trust your instinct to learn from every moment, work at your tempo, and ask as many questions as possible. Your life will give you the answer.
