CHCC chief dentist confirmed to Health Care Professions Licensing Board

THE Senate on Friday unanimously confirmed the appointment of Dr. Angelica C. Sabino to the CNMI Health Care Professions Licensing Board.

The Senate Committee on Executive Appointments and Government Investigations, chaired by Sen. Francisco Q. Cruz, recommended Sabino’s confirmation after conducting a public hearing to review her credentials and to hear from the general public.

“After review and consideration of testimonies provided, your committee recommends the confirmation of Dr. Angelica C. Sabino’s appointment to serve as a member of the Health Care Professions Licensing Board, representing healthcare professionals,” Cruz said in the committee report.

For his part, the committee vice chair, Sen. Victor B. Hocog, said Sabino is an asset to the entire Commonwealth community, given her experience in dental practice.

Eight of the nine senators were present for the Senate vote. Sen. Paul A. Manglona was absent and excused.

Sabino holds certificates to practice dentistry in Minnesota, Georgia and the CNMI. She served as a general dentist in Georgia from 2004 to 2016 before moving to the CNMI.

She is currently the chief dentist for the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation, and is a member of the American Association of States and Territorial Dental Directors.

A Marianas High School alumna, Sabino holds a bachelor of arts degree in biology from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota, and graduated with a doctorate in dental surgery from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

She is also certified in basic life support and cardiopulmonary resuscitation in dental practice.
