AS of Friday, the CNMI had 18,808 registered voters, the Commonwealth Election Commission said.
Request for absentee ballots commenced on Thursday.
CEC Executive Director Kayla S. Igitol said the commission, as of Friday, had received 143 absentee ballot requests.
“They’re coming in at a high rate,” she told the election board.
The absentee voter list was made available online to the general public beginning at 4 p.m. on Friday.
Igitol said the list will be updated every 48 hours.
The deadline for absentee voters to submit applications to vote electronically or by mail is on Oct. 14.
To be eligible to vote, an individual must be at least 18 years old by Nov. 8, Election Day, is domiciled in the Commonwealth, has resided in the CNMI for 120 days prior to election day, is not serving a sentence for a felony conviction, has not been declared by a court to be judicially insane, and is either a citizen or national of the U.S. as defined in the CNMI Constitution.
Previously registered voters who failed to vote in the 2018 and 2020 general elections must re-register to be eligible to vote in the 2022 general election.
First-time voters must provide a valid U.S. passport or birth certificate.
The last day for voters to register for the general election is on Sept. 9.
