ACTING Gov. Karl King-Nabors on Wednesday nominated former Tinian Mayor Ramon M. Dela Cruz to the Commonwealth Economic Development Authority.

Dela Cruz, who also served as senator and was a member of the Commonwealth Casino Commission, will fill the Tinian seat vacated by Jocelyn T. King, whose term expired on Sept. 25, 2024.

In his letter to acting Senate President Corina L. Manglona, King-Nabors expressed confidence in Dela Cruz’s leadership to fulfill CEDA’s mandate and enhance economic activity in the Commonwealth.

In his appointment letter to Dela Cruz, the acting governor wrote, “Your willingness to serve our people in this capacity is greatly appreciated. I am confident that you will fulfill the mandate and goals of CEDA.”

A semi-autonomous agency of the CNMI government, CEDA, formerly known as the Commonwealth Development Authority, is tasked to, among other things, pursue industries and investments that will strengthen and diversify the local economy.

CEDA also provides “appropriate financial and technical assistance to facilitate the start-up or expansion of private and public enterprises for their success, the benefit of the CNMI’s economic welfare and the long-term sustainability of CEDA.”
