TEAM Green has yet to be beaten in the 2022 Church of Christ Unity Games, notching their sixth win by outplaying Team Blue, 85-65, on Sunday at the Marianas High School gym.
At first, it was an even matchup between both teams. Genese led the assault for Team Green in the opening quarter with 11 points, including a triple, to give them a one-possession lead. Lincayan, for his part, was the top scorer for Team Blue which trailed 17-20.
In the second quarter, Team Green managed to gain the distance thanks to their defensive efforts, holding down Team Blue while staying aggressive on the offensive end.
With Licayan doing most of the work for Team Blue, Team Green focused on shutting him down.
Frustration started to show on the part of Team Blue as they committed a handful of fouls, handing Team Green’s Carlos easy buckets from the charity line while the rest of his team mates chipped in their share of the buckets to push ahead with a double-digit lead, 38-28.
Team Blue tried to build momentum in the third canto with Aparte firing 15 points. However, it was still not enough as Team Green used teamwork to their advantage to create a variety of shot opportunities and maintain a safe distance, 54-48.
With Team Blue having only six players at their disposal, fatigue started to become their second opponent. They failed to find high-percentage shots while Team Green turned missed attempts into buckets on the other end with Genese on the frontline scoring 17 points to lead his team to victory, 85-65.
