THE Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport commuter terminal will officially open on Oct. 1, 2025, Commonwealth Ports Authority Executive Director Esther Ada said.

During the CPA board meeting held Friday in the Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting conference room, Ada reported that management has formed a committee responsible for ensuring the smooth opening of the commuter terminal, which will serve passengers traveling to Tinian and Rota.

Ada said Micronesian Air Connection Services and Star Marianas were already advised of the opening date, as well as the designation of their respective commuter terminals for passengers. She added that the temporary terminal SMA has been using for the past couple of years will be dismantled, and the space it occupied will revert to a parking area.

The $9.7 million commuter terminal, whose construction began in November 2022, replaces the old terminal that was heavily damaged by Super Typhoon Yutu in October 2018.

The approximately 19,000-square-foot facility includes four check-in counters and airline office spaces, a food and beverage concession, a larger holding room, an expanded baggage claim area, and space for U.S. Customs and Border Protection processing. The terminal also features modern restrooms and adequate seating that comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Hong Ye Rental & Construction was the contractor for the project.
