Toxic wastes on Tinian

THE governor has allotted close to $2 million for a contract to clean up toxic materials stored in the Tinian Department of Natural Resources compound.

Would you please ask your reporter to find out exactly what toxic wastes were stored at the DNR compound. How long have the toxic wastes been stored there? How much was stored there? Was it properly stored? Was BECQ aware of toxic wastes being stored at the DNR compound?

Most important, has an independent contractor studied the site to determine if $2 million is actually necessary, now that the area has been burned? There are so many unfinished projects on Tinian where those funds might be put to better use, like providing infrastructure to the West San Jose Village Homestead.
