A NEW local law re-appropriates over $150,000 for various projects on Saipan.
Signed by Senate President Jude U. Hofschneider in his capacity as acting governor on June 24, 2022, House Local Bill 22-12 is now Saipan Local Law 22-31.
It allots $1,018 in poker fees; $16,000 in casino license fees; $13,173 in infrastructure developer tax collections; and $121,230 in electronic gaming fees for the following projects:
• To mitigate flooding at the intersection of Tun Thomas Sablan and Batto Place in San Antonio — $55,232.
• The construction, renovation, and repair of speed bumps, bus shelters, restroom facilities, basketball court, and installation of streetlights and traffic signs in Precinct 1 — $96,199.
The expenditure authority is the Department of Public Works.
The funds were originally allotted under Saipan Local Law 19-2, S.L.L. 20-04, and S.L.L. 20-26
The authors of the new local law are House Minority Leader Angel Demapan, Reps. Joseph Flores and Joseph Leepan T. Guerrero.
