Knights almost had the first set as they clinch 23 points versus Stormz’ 25.
MCS Knights Coach Rommel Calcena said his players came out weak in the first set as they were still trying to find their footing.
By the second set, Knights were able to contain their errors, though they got quite excited with their serves, which sometimes got out of bounds, giving away some points to MBA Stormz.
In one of the crucial moments of the second set, MCS Knights’ Peter Matagolai overshot his service, tying the score at 21 with MBA Stormz.
A forced error by Knights’ Kim Joo Jung led to 23-21 score, in favor of Stormz.
Fortunately for Knights, Stormz committed the same mistake, allowing Knights to advnce by one point – 23-22.
Eventually, the match got tied at 24 points when Knights’ Noelle Calvo served beyond bounds.
The second set ended with 27-25 score, in favor MCS Knights.
In the third set, both teams saw a tied score at 10 when MBA Stormz’ Richard Park tipped the ball over the net, going for a point against MCS Knights.
Stormz somehow lost connection with the ball as they failed to make their returns within the bounds.
In some instances, MBS Stormz failed to close in on openings in their side of the court, enabling MCS Knights to direct their hit in these areas.
In the end, Knights were able to claim the third set, 15-11, with Stormz unable to respond with good volleys.
MCS Coach Calcena said his team won due mainly to a good team play.
MCS Knights are now up to face off with Grace Christian Academy (Sharks) in championship game after the latter beat Seventh Day Adventist in two straight sets, 25-16, 25-12.
Their championship match will take place today at the Ada Gym, 3:30 p.m.
