MBA, SDA beat SIS Blue & Green Geckos in high school volleyball quarterfinals

Seventh Day Adventist beat Saipan International School (Blue) in two straight sets, 25-23, 25-16 and posts a sure spot for the semi-final round with Grace Christian Academy (Sharks) on Thursday.

SDA spikers went for good save of the ball throughout their game without losing momentum.

Michitaka Yoshida and Kae Yoshida and the rest of the SDA crew tried to form sharp returns to SIS Blue Geckos’ court, which at times were left open.

This situation gave SDA spikers some chance to put in needed points.

SDA almost lost to SIS-Blue in the first set, as the latter made good with its volleys and drop at the net.

Eventually, SDA players anticipated SIS-Blue’s ball and were able to close in on potential openings on the floor, and went on to save some shots.

Second set saw SIS-Blue Geckos advancing in the initial minutes.

At one instance, Caleb Arriola of Blue Geckos made good with a direct hit in the center of SDA court.

Ball exchanges between two teams were allowed them to position their players in the right spot for a quick, but Blue Geckos seemed to have lost their connection to the net, thereby losing break points.

SDA young spikers went on to continue on with their barrage of hits towards SIS Blue Geckos’ court, ultimately claiming the second set.

On another match, Marianas Baptist Academy (Stormz) showed SIS Green Geckos the way out of the Ada Gym, breaking the latter team’s defense and cracking their offensive strategy through sheer height of their players and strong, sharp volleys.

MBA Stormz hammered SIS Green Geckos in two straight sets, 25-16, 25-13.

Green Geckos went hard to return heavy returns coming from three male players of Stormz, including #7 (Jo) and #26 (R. Park).

The third game of the day also saw Mount Carmel School (Knights) and Calvary Christian Academy in action.

MCS Knights sealed a win against CCA, 25-20, 26-24.

Knights will face off with MBA in the semifinal round of the COPSSA volleyball tournament.
