According to state officials, as directed by Governor Browny Salvador, all employees of the state are relieved of their duties today and that all of the state’s offices would be closed until Monday.
Further, the officials said that in anticipation of today state employees had devoted most of their time, prior to Election Day, cleaning the various cemeteries of the state.“We expected citizens of the state would be visiting the graves of their relatives and loved ones today,” the officials said. “Our ground crew set out before Election Day to clean not only the grave sites, but also the main roads of the state.”Due to on-going election activities and the fact that many of the citizens and residents of the state have been actively participating in campaign events for the past weeks, no official Memorial Day activity was planned.“People are, by now, exhausted,” said Abraham Osima, Ngarchelong State Assemblyman. “Today is left to each individual to visit the cemetery or to other activities with family members. All week long everyone has, in one way or another, been obligated to participate in this and that. Today each individual will, in privacy and without social pressure, have quality time to reflect on the contributions of those who passed.”
