Sabalu Market says pre-Thanksgiving celebration a success

Salabu Farmers president Bill Ada said the event was very successful and customers were even requesting that the market holds the event regularly.

On Saturday, the early customers got free sandwiches and other refreshments, according to Sabalu Farmers treasurer Bernie C. Aldan.

“The people were very appreciative and happy about the activities, particularly the booth competition among the vendors,” she said.

Maggie Naputi, a local performer, provided entertainment.

Aldan said they recognized the farmers and the vendors for continuously offering their best quality products to the community at “very reasonable prizes.”

Aldan also noted that ingenuity displayed by the vendors in the booth competition.

Of the 31 participating vendors, four were given special prices while the rest received giveaways.

The first prize of $100 was given to Tuhu Produkto Lachero; second prize, Carmen Nursery, $75; third prize, Food Merchant International, $50; and fourth prize, Saipan Farm and Garden, $25.

Aldan said the Sabalu Farmers board of directors distributed a sack of fertilizer worth $35 and a turkey to each vendor and farmer.
