Sen. Henry H. San Nicolas, Covenant-Tinian, yesterday said MRDC is expected to begin the physical construction of the casino facility anytime soon.
San Nicolas, along with the Tinian delegation chairman, Covenant Sen. Joseph M. Mendiola, attended the meeting with CRMO and the other permitting agencies — the Historic Preservation Office, the Department of Lands and Natural Resources, the Division of Fish and Wildlife, the Departments of Public Works, and Commerce.
“We’re very grateful for the assistance provided by our local agencies in expediting the processing of Matua Bay’s permit,” San Nicolas said. “The company can now move forward with the physical construction of the casino facility that will have a big economic impact not only on the Tinian but on the entire CNMI.”
A conditional permit is usually granted when a single minor requirement has yet to be turned in by the company.
“There are some minor documentations that are still hanging in there … but they will soon be turned in,” San Nicolas said.
During the meeting of the agencies, he said the permit of Bridge Capital, another casino investor, was also discussed and will soon be approved by the agencies.
