American Red Cross NMI chapter executive director John Hirsh told the Variety yesterday that the organization collected over $150,000 from the Club 200 Halloween event.
“Our target was somewhere around $130,000 but we went beyond our goal. We are very happy with the outcome of the fundraising event,” Hirsh said.
He added that the proceeds would help fund the different projects and services of the organization.
Hirsh said last year’s collection for the same fundraising was about $130,000.
“This just goes to show the unwavering support of the community to the cause of the American Red Cross, and we appreciate this so much,” Hirsh said.
He added that the Halloween Ball held at the Hyatt Regency Saipan gardens on Oct. 25 was the last fundraising event of the organization this year.
“We couldn’t thank the community enough for the continuous support and their generosity in our programs. We will be coming up with more events next year,” Hirsh said.
He said the Halloween Ball last month marked the 20th anniversary of the Club 200 and the 30th anniversary of the NMI chapter.
He added that the total collections came from ticket sales and donations from organizations, different business establishments and generous individuals who never ceased giving their support for the American Red Cross’ programs in the past years.
“Economic crisis or not, the people of CNMI continue to be generous and for this we are extremely grateful,” Hirsh said.
