There is a $25 fee for the math placement test that must be paid in advance at NMC’s finance office.

Calling all artists

(CCAC) — The Commonwealth Council for Arts and Culture is pleased to announce that its Annual Island Artist and Christmas Crafts exhibit is scheduled to open on Dec. 1, at the CNMI gallery for arts and culture.

All interested visual, traditional and contemporary artist are encouraged to register and submit their artworks at the Arts Council’s Office located on Capital Hill next to the post office.

Deadline for submission of artworks will be Friday, Nov. 21. Registration forms are available and participation is free.

OES PTSA meeting

(OES) — The PTSA officers of Oleai Elementary School are informing parents and guardians of OES students that there will be a PTSA meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 6:15 p.m., in the school cafeteria.

LISS students win Math Court, forensic awards

LISS — Despite immeasurable numbered equations and paramount mathematical problems at this year Math Court competitions, the LISS Tigers remain atop in the high school division competition for Geometry and Algebra 2.

Coached by Richard Waldo and James Phillips, the LISS Tigers secured the top slots in the high school division.

 “Coaching such talent from the LISS students is an invigorating experience.  We have practiced numerous hours to ensure we come home with victory,” Waldo said.

The effort, hard work, commitment, and dedication paid off as LISS won top honors in the high school division of Geometry and Algebra 2.

LISS also won awards at the National Forensic League Poetry Reading and the Master Poetry Reading.

 In the junior level, LISS placed second in the Poetry Reading while in elementary Math, LISS placed fourth in the sixth grade division.

“I am proud of the outcome.  At first, I wondered whether we could place given the school’s third year in operation.  In fact, I owe this all to the faculty and students who took this competition seriously and came out victorious,” stated LISS Director Wayne Pangelinan
